The Charter Oak State College Foundation’s spring fundraiser was held at the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford.
The Foundation recognized and celebrated innovative approaches in other fields. Our Innovation award went to FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognitition of Science and Technology). We salute Mike Sperber, Program Manager, Hamilton Sundstrand, who has volunteered with FIRST since is start in Connecticut and the Tecno Ticks robotics team.
We appreciate their contributions to higher education and more specifically to the community of online learners at Charter Oak State College who are in need of financial assistance.
Proceeds benefited the Charter Oak State College Foundation’s Scholarship Fund. During this economic downturn that is gripping our nation, we are seeing a huge increase in the numbers of adult students requesting aid. In fact, of our 1,750+ students, over 800 have applied for aid in one form or another. And, we do not expect that this number will decrease any time soon.
