The Endowment Fund provides for the future of the College, its students, and faculty and is a lasting gift for generations. Donations to the Endowed Fund are subject to a requirement that the principal be maintained intact and invested to create a source of income for future generations.
Donations may be specified to a specific Endowed Fund- (Women in Transition Fund, Scholarships, Technology/Program Innovation, Shea Lecutre, or Where Most Needed).
An endowed named gift may be established with a minium of $10,000. The endowed gift may be made in payments over a designated number of years.
Endowment revenue can be restricted by donors. Several of our endowed scholarships are both need-based and merit-based.
Contributions to the Foundation’s Endowed Funds are matched by the State of Connecticut, $1 for every $4 raised.
Charter Oak State College and its Foundation honors Beryl Weinstein, a 1991 COSC Graduate who just recently passed away. Upon earning his degree, Beryl joined the COSC Foundation Board until his “retirement” in July 2009. Beryl’s teancity and leadership helped to bring the Foundation’s first Endowment Campaign to $500,000. Prior to this campaign, which began in 1996, the Foundation had an endowment of only $35,000. Today the Foundation’s Endowed Fund has over $1.2 million.
