2009-2010 Annual Appeal Letter

This year the needs of our Foundation are greater than ever before.  Your donation to the Annual Appeal will directly support the Foundation. This, in turn, directly supports the mission of Charter Oak State College and its students.

“I began this fall semester knowing that only 5 college courses stood between me and a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Behavioral Science/Child Study.  My strong desire to succeed in a career serving young children gives me the motivation I need to balance work, school and single parenting; my only barrier has been financial and that barrier was removed for me when I received this year’s Harris-Weiner Scholarship. I’ll be able to graduate in time and provide a better life for my son as I begin my career working in an Early Education setting.” (Glenna Martin)

As of this date, our Financial Aid Office has awarded 64 students approximately $15,000 in undergraduate grants – grants funded by the Charter Oak State College Foundation.  Yet, the College’s request for financial aid has more than doubled this academic year to over 18% and still growing.

“As an alumnus of Charter Oak State College, I know the benefits of the education that I received and it couldn’t have been done without the flexibility of the College’s program and the assistance of the dedicated people at Charter Oak.  Since graduating, I have received several promotions and my career is on a great track.  I know these are difficult times, but I urge every one of you to consider finding a way to give to the Charter Oak College Foundation.  Giving back is extremely rewarding and being able to increase the impact of your contribution is even more gratifying personally and a huge benefit to the Charter Oak State College Foundation.” (Mike Marusa, B.S.2004)

Please help keep Charter Oak State College and Charter Oak State College Foundation strong by generously answering this request to the Annual Appeal. On behalf of current and future students who will benefit from your support we thank you.
