Dear Charter Oak Graduate,
Charter Oak State College just completed its 36th Commencement, and as we conversed with our graduates we were struck by how many of them pursued their education using loans and scholarships. These were the students who seemed to value their new skills the most, and they were also the students who expressed the most gratitude for the opportunity Charter Oak provided. I suspect some of you had the same experience during your education.
For 60 students last year, the Charter Oak State College Foundation made a critical difference with its Grants and Scholarship program. The Foundation’s Endowment makes it possible to continue to provide grants and scholarships to Charter Oak students who otherwise could not afford to complete their degree. And it is people like you who give $10, $20 and $50 contributions that help to sustain our Endowment. Over the next several years, given the economic decline, we expect more of our students will need this financial help.
Like other nonprofits, the Foundation’s Endowment has been stressed by the financial collapse on Wall Street. As a direct result of that collapse, the Endowment will be forced to reduce the amount it can offer in grants during the 2010-2011 academic year. The Foundation’s Trustees are in the process of rebuilding the Endowment, and we hope that you will find it in your heart to donate. Giving to the Charter Oak State College Foundation Endowment is an investment in the College and our future students. Those students, like you, are a dynamic community of online learners advancing the workforce one graduate at a time.
You can donate online by going to http://coscf.org/endowment/ and directing your donation to an Endowment category within the pull down menu in the Gift Information section. You may also send a check or money order to COSCF, 55 Paul Manafort Drive, New Britain, CT 06053. Please call 860-832-3876 if you have questions.
Thanking you in advance for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Ed Klonoski
