The Charter Oak State College Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation that operates exclusively to promote the educational programs of Charter Oak State College and to support the educational endeavors of Charter Oak students. As the primary fundraising entity for the College, the Foundation solicits, receives, and administers gifts from private sources so that Charter Oak can remain a leader in distance learning for adult students and that financial need will not be a barrier to completing a degree.

Dear Friends of Charter Oak State College Foundation,

In January 2010, as a proud Charter Oak State College Alumni, I took over the reigns as President of the Charter Oak State College Foundation, after having served for over twelve years as a Board member.

Since graduating, I have witnessed firsthand the growth in the College and its many new initiatives and enhancements that continue to help serve the adult. As importantly I have been a part of the Foundation’s transformation.

I played an active role in growing the Foundation’s Endowment from $30,000 (1998) to over $1.5 million today. This is an incredible feat for a small public institution. Additionally, the State of Connecticut’s General Assembly has shown its commitment to Connecticut’s public institutions of higher education by matching donations made to the endowed funds. That match has contributed over $322,000 to the Foundation’s Endowment.

As we move forward into the 21st century, I am committed to growing the Foundation even more and beginning another capital campaign. Over the last year, with the economic downturn, the Foundation Board is seeing more and more adults in need of scholarship assistance. I and my fellow Board members are committed to raising additional dollars to support those student needs. We all understand that in today’s economic crisis those dollars are more critical than ever.

All of our initiatives could not be accomplished without the help of the many generous donors, the volunteer board members, the staff and faculty at the College, and our friends. Given the downturn in the economy, we will face many challenges in the coming years. We invite you to become an active member of the Foundation at whatever level is comfortable for you. Your donation will continue to help us to keep the College on the forefront of technology and to be leaders in the education our adult workforce.

If you have questions, please call me at 860-832-3876. Thank you for your interest in the College and the Foundation.

Sincerely,
