Matt Fluery (President & CEO of the CT Science Science Center) is a COSC Graduate. Matt appreciates his Charter Oak degree and hosted a fundriasing event at the Science Center to raise money for Foundation Scholarships.
Tracey Jossey-Carter is a recipient of Foundation Scholarships and is currently in the Foundation’s Women in Transition program. She just earned her Associate degree and is continuing on to earn a Bachelor’s degree. Tracey is currently employed in early care and knows the importance that early care teachers have on our young children. She is very appreciative of the Foundation’s grants that she has received. Without those funds, she would not have been able to return to college.
James, Tracey’s husband, works at the CT Science Center. He has been accepted for the Spring 2011 sememster in the CT WAGE program at Charter Oak State College. His dream is to earn a Bachelor’s degree and be a CEO like Matt Fluery. The CT WAGE program is much like the WIT program, but also includes disadvantaged and/or underserved single fathers and parents. This program is supported by the CT General Assembly.
The Endowment Fund provides for the future of the College, its students, and faculty and is a lasting gift for generations. Donations to the Endowed Fund are subject to a requirement that the principle be maintained intact and invested to create a source of income for future generations.
Donations may be allocated to a specific Endowed Fund (Women in Transition Fund, Scholarships, Technology/Program Innovation, Shea Lecture, or Where Most Needed).
An endowed named gift may be established with a minium of $10,000. The endowed gift may be made in payments over a designated number of years.
Endowment revenue can be restricted by donors. Several of our endowed scholarships are both need-based and merit-based.
Even in these difficult economic times, the State of Connecticut continues to keep an accounting of the the contributions to the Foundation’s Endowed Funds so that donations can be matched, $1 for every $4 raised.
